As we slide into another Fourth of July weekend, I want to thank all of you for your support and book, pamphlet and broadside orders. Without great people like you, independent publishers in this country would be out of business. We owe you all a debt of gratitude, so I send my thanks.
And for all of you fellow travelers who are letterpress printers and have seen the publishing world rocket by us, take heart. In the past year or so I have seen an increased interest not only in the small independent press, but in that niche part of it served by hot metal typesetting and letterpress printing. We play a role in holding onto the traditions of printers past as well as readers future. What we do is buried in centuries of the printing craft but is part of a revival of interest in handcrafts.
So, with our celebration of the Declaration of Independence–a truly revolutionary and liberating document–let us declare our re-dedication to our craft and to the people we serve.
