Life’s lessons come at all times. Sometimes they are welcome, sometimes difficult to swallow. In any case, they add to our understanding of the world. Among the lessons I learned early on came courtesy of my older brother who happened to have a paper route–actually, two of them. I became an unwilling assistant on both routes, but I did learn. As I conclude in the pamphlet: “Child labor isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, but it does teach life lessons, even if they are ones we’d just as soon never have learned.
