Printers’ fair in Mt. Pleasand Iowa

Printer’s Fair a magnet for letterpress enthusiasts

With the Printers’ Fair coming this weekend [September 17-19, 2015] in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, I am reminded of a wonderful trip I made to Iowa many years back to attend Linotype University One, conducted by Larry J. Raid and Bud Lang in Denmark, Iowa.  Both men were wonderful and the course a marvelous experience for me.  I wrote about it in a pamphlet titled This Old Linotype.   Since then Larry has continued to sponsor the “University” at his Linotype museum, which is housed on his compound of buildings in Denmark.  He even had his own operating “railroad” complete with engine and caboose, which students, so inclined, were offered an opportunity to drive.  A real thrill for me.

I look forward to seeing other letterpress enthusiasts at the Printers’ Fair and encourage anyone interested in letterpress printing to visit, if able.

Until later . . .
